New Found Glory-"King of Wishful Thinking" (Go West, Pretty Woman Soundtrack Cover)

Just wanted to share one of the songs Local Deluxe covered as part of their set Saturday night (Jaret Castro's 22nd Bday, Pretty Woman Theme Party, see previous blog post). It was a cover of the song from the Pretty Woman Soundtrack, "King of Wishful Thinking" by Go West, which was also covered by, arguably (or at least they are one of the GOATs in my playlist) one of the greats pop punk bands around, New Found Glory (NFG). Local Deluxe is always on top of their game when it comes to picking out the right songs for their set, and "King of Wishful Thinking" was a good edition, not only because it was from Pretty Women, which was the whole theme for the event, but it was a song that was re-popularized by NFG (from their album "From The Screen to Your Stereo Part 2"), and its always fun to hear NFG covers, AND its Local Deluxe jamming. So with that being said, enjoy...

Jaret Castro's Bday (Pop Rocks & Soda X Binary Sunset) RECAP

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported Jaret Castro on this 22nd birthday, as well as the live music scene. That night was such a success and it is all thanks to those who support the scene. Being able to see Pop Rocks & Soda, Local Deluxe, as well as a few DJs from the DJ scene (Tom Foolery & Jay Edwards) all collab on one night, gave people a unique event to enjoy. Guam has so much potential (we cannot stress this enough), and there is a scene, and it definitely can use as much attention as possible. We need to continue to encourage our artists, whether its Bands, DJs, or any art for that matter, because there is a growing platform for them to truly be appreciated and we want to help cultivate that (which can only be with the help of everyone). Anyways with that said, check out the photos below from that night at Cowboy Ninja.

Also shout out to everyone who made this possible:

  • Pop Rocks & Soda
  • Local Deluxe
  • Miller Lite Guam
  • Cowboy Ninja
  • Jay Edwards
  • Tom Foolery
  • Jaret Castro for turning 22

R.I.P. Dolores O' Riordan

Damn...New Year and already great artists are starting to leave. The Cranberries, one of the many great bands that the 90's has given us, has lost their singer/iconic voice that made them who they were/are. Such a tragedy to lose this iconic voice so soon. Every time the Cranberries' hit song (among a plethora of hits) "Dreams" plays there is always this nostalgic, good, happy 90's feel. For me, I always imagine one of those dope 90's teen movies, which, frankly they do not make teen movies like they used to anymore. Rest in peace Dolores, and thank you for contributing to such a good decade in music and blessing us with such a unique voice. Your legacy will forever linger...
